Que es la Liquidacion?

Liquidation is the forced closure of tu trading position by el exchange when tu margen balance falls below el principaltenance margin requirement. Cuando are liquidated, you lose most or all of el margen allocated to that position. It is one of el mas significant risks in leveraged trading.

When Does Liquidation Happen?

Liquidation occurs when the unrealized loss on tu posicion consumes tu margen down to el principaltenance margin level. The exact precio de liquidacion depende de three factors:

  1. Your precio de entrada: Where you opened la posicion.
  2. Your leverage: Altaer leverage means a closer precio de liquidacion.
  3. El principaltenance margin rate: Set by el exchange.

Ejemplo with a long position:

You open a long position on ETH at $2,000 with 10x leverage using $100 margin (position size: $1,000).

  • With a typical 0.5% maintenance margin rate, your maintenance margin is $5.
  • Your position can absorb approximately $95 in losses before liquidation.
  • A $95 loss on a $1,000 position equals a 9.5% price drop.
  • Your precio de liquidacion is approximately $1,810.

With 5x leverage and $100 margin, el mismo math gives you roughly an 18% buffer, meaning liquidation would occur around $1,640.

The Liquidation Process

When the precio mark reaches your precio de liquidacion, el exchange takes over:

  1. El exchange closes tu posicion at the current market price.
  2. A liquidation fee is charged (typically 0.5%-1% of la posicion size).
  3. Remaining margin after la comision, if any, is returned to tu cuenta.
  4. If losses exceed tu margen, the insurance fund covers la diferencia (on most exchanges).

Ten en cuenta que liquidation se calcula using the precio mark, not el ultimo traded price. This protects traders from manipulation-driven liquidations caused by momentary price spikes.

How to Prevent Liquidation

1. Use Bajaer Leverage

Este es el simplest and most effective prevention method. Bajaer leverage gives tu posicion more room to breathe.

LeverageApproximate Liquidation Distance
2x~50% price move
3x~33% price move
5x~20% price move
10x~10% price move
20x~5% price move

2. Set Stop-Loss Orders

Place a stop-loss order above your precio de liquidacion. This automatically closes tu posicion at a predetermined loss level, preventing liquidation. A good rule of thumb is to set your stop-loss at least 2-3% above your precio de liquidacion.

3. Monitor Your Margin Ratio

Keep an eye on tu margen ratio. Most exchanges show this as a percentage. When it approaches 100%, estas close to liquidation.

4. Add More Margin

If tu posicion is moving against you, puedes add more margin to push your precio de liquidacion further away. This buys time sino tambien increases your potential total loss.

5. Reduce Position Size

You can partially close tu posicion para reducir your exposure and improve tu margen ratio.

6. Avoid Overexposure

Do not put all tu capital into a single leveraged position. Keep reserves to either add margin or absorb losses from liquidation.

Liquidation and Grid Bots

Grid bots face a unique liquidation challenge porque ely accumulate positions as el precio se mueve. In a long grid bot:

  • As el precio cae, el bot compra at each nivel de grid.
  • Each purchase adds to the total position size.
  • The combined position increases the overall riesgo de liquidacion.

Es por eso que grid bots should be configured with conservative leverage and sufficient capital to cover the maximum possible position size (all nivel de grids filled). El grid break feature acts as a safety mechanism, shutting down el bot when el precio se mueve outside the rango de grid before liquidation can occur.

Resumen

  • Liquidation is the forced closure of tu posicion when margin falls below el principaltenance requirement, calculated using the precio mark.
  • Bajaer leverage is el mas effective way para prevenir liquidation, with 2x giving approximately 50% buffer versus 10x giving only 10%.
  • Grid bots accumulate positions as price moves contra elm, making conservative leverage and grid break protection essential para evitar liquidation.
